Campbell brace lifts Blades past Owls
Sheffield United cruised to a 3-0 victory over cross-city rival Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, with Tyrese Campbell scoring twice.
Campbell was on target either side of half-time for Chris Wilder's Blades, whose victory was secured by a deflected stoppage-time effort from Tom Cannon, as they pulled within one point of 21st-placed Oxford United.
Wednesday remains bottom on minus-four points, 18 adrift of safety, and it could have few complaints about the result after being outclassed by its city rival.
United went ahead in the 11th after Jairo Riedewald pressed high to recover possession and find Callum O'Hare. He in turn found Campbell's overlapping run, and the 25 year-old finished calmly.
Ethan Horvath made a big save to deny Danny Ings one-v-one, with the Blades striker also seeing a potential second goal disallowed for a marginal offside call in the 38th minute.
But Wednesday's defence was breached again early in the second half, with Campbell gliding into the area before slotting a neat finish across Horvath and into the bottom-right corner.
The host did not attempt a single shot on target and their woes were compounded in the 91st minute, as Cannon's curler struck Liam Palmer before nestling in the far corner.
