QPR ends winless run as Wednesday suffers again
Queens Park Rangers boosted its EFL Championship play-off hopes with a commanding 3-0 victory over bottom side Sheffield Wednesday.
It was the first time QPR had beaten Wednesday in the Championship since April 2021, ending a run of five games without success.
Rumarn Burrell broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with his 10th goal of the season, but a hamstring injury forced him off just seven minutes later.
Rayan Kolli's first Championship goals then sealed the points, as the substitute struck twice in the final nine minutes to end the Rs' three-game winless run.
Queens Park Rangers manager Julien Stephan was impressed with the way his players managed after playing four games in just nine days.
"It's a crazy period for the players, to be honest, both physically and mentally," he said.
"They had a good first half and were very dominant in possession, and out of possession they didn't concede any shot in the first half.
"They moved well collectively, even if the conditions were difficult to play good football they still succeeded in doing that.
"After the first half it was less good in possession, but we didn't concede anything, and at the end they found a solution to score the second and third goals, so it was a good win."
