Atletico Madrid ensured they remain in a strong position in La Liga's title race as they beat Malaga 1-0 on Saturday.
The win sees the Rojiblancos go top of the table, restoring their one point lead over Real Madrid, before Barcelona play Sporting Gijon on Sunday.
It was by no means a comfortable victory for the home side, though, as Malaga enjoyed several chances in the game and it took an Angel Correa goal deep in the second half to separate the two teams.
Atletico suffered a blow during the game when Diego Simeone was sent to the stands after a ball was thrown on from the home side's dugout in order to disrupt a Malaga counter attack.
The absence of the Argentine did not hinder the Rojiblancos too much, though, as they took the lead in 62 minutes. Substitute Correa had loads of time on the edge of the box when he took on a Filipe Luis pass, but he was lucky to see his shot take a big deflection to help it on its way to the net.
Both teams pressed on towards the end of the game and Malaga came close through Anor late on, while Correa continued to carve out chances but failed to add a second.
