Bayern stunned by Augsburg as unbeaten run ends
Bayern Munich's unbeaten run in the Bundesliga this season came to a halt after they lost 2-1 to Augsburg.
It was a below-par performance from Vincent Kompany's side, who took the lead through Hiroki Ito before second-half goals from Arthur Chaves and Han-Noah Massengo sealed a surprise victory for the visitors.
Luis Diaz saw an early shot blocked for Bayern, who scored with their second attempt in the 23rd minute when Michael Olise's inswinging corner towards the back post was headed in by Ito.
That sparked some life into the hosts at Allianz Arena, as Diaz and Lennart Karl both squandered opportunities.
However, Robin Fellhauer struck the upright at the other end on the stroke of half-time to offer a warning that Augsburg were far from out of the contest.
And Bayern were punished for going through the motions after the interval when Jonas Urbig failed at his attempt to catch Mert Komur's corner, allowing Chaves to head into an unguarded net in the 75th minute.
Massengo then completed the turnaround in the 81st minute, finishing off a simple chance from close range after he was teed up by Dimitrios Giannoulis.
Olise almost rescued a point for Bayern with the last kick of the game, but his curling effort from the edge of the box crashed against the crossbar as Kompany's team lost in the league for the first time since March last year.
