Sports Burst - Gareth Bale's Cold Shoulder
Gareth Bale's cold shoulder goal celebration shows tension for Real Madrid's star player ahead of El Clasico week
By Tim Stannard
No VAR complaints after Madrid's Levante win, but plenty on Gareth Bale's shrug
It's fair to say that - at least on the Madrid media side - complaints against the formally scandalous VAR have suddenly gone quiet.
Sports Burst simply cannot imagine why after Santiago Solari's side coincidentally came away as 2-1 winners on Sunday against Levante with two VAR-assisted penalties.
Instead, it's all about Gareth Bale on Monday. And no, the Welshman didn't get injured again. It looks like the pressure building on the Madrid man has reached a boiling point as reflected by how a British person expresses extreme emotion. And that's by getting a bit huffy.
The victim of a savage attack of stress was Lucas Vasquez, who was trying to help Bale celebrate his winning penalty but instead received a shrug-off with his shoulder. Boom. No going back from that.
"He can celebrate how he likes," noted Solari after the game trying to defuse the situation.
This extreme reaction came to a head after Bale's exile to the bench has become permanent, and Thibaut Courtois noted in the press that he was not the most communicative of teammates. Bale also has the threat of suspension hanging over him after a rude gesture to the crowd during the Atletico Madrid derby.
Like a ticking time bomb of fury. There might be an eye-roll next if matters escalate.

Chelsea tries to put lid on Kepa keeper cramp kerfuffle
What was going to be a huge Monday maelstrom of a story has died down a little.
And that's the Kepa keeper cramp kerfuffle that apparently saw the Chelsea number one refusing to be substituted for Willy Caballero ahead of a penalty shoot-out against Manchester City on Sunday in the League Cup final.
It's all the result of a Seinfeld-style misunderstanding apparently. Kepa was at pains to communicate to the world that he was trying to tell Maurizio Sarri that he wasn't suffering from cramp, not refuse to leave the pitch.
And the Chelsea boss clarified that he was not mad at all, and that it took him a while to understand quite what was going on.
David Luiz has since tried to smooth Chelsea's waters by reiterating that there is no locker room conspiracy against their manager. "The coach has the power over our group. He has our respect," said the Brazilian.
That is what is being said on the surface. But with Chelsea playing in the Premier League on Wednesday against Tottenham, it's a story that is not going to fizzle away anytime soon.
The Kepa keeper cramp kerfuffle will be quite the hot topic for the Locker Room at 7:30PM ET / 4:30PM PT.
