Djokovic responds to calls for retirement
After his victory over Jannik Sinner, the reigning champion, Djokovic made his stance very clear:
“I never stopped believing in myself. There are many people who doubt me and many experts who want me to retire. I want to thank them, because they give me strength and motivation to prove them wrong.”
The Serbian also admitted that motivation is becoming more challenging, but that Grand Slams remain his ultimate goal:
“When I prepared for this season, my objectives were clear: Grand Slams. I imagined myself playing finals against Sinner or Alcaraz, giving everything and fighting. I’m fortunate to have achieved that already in the first tournament of the year.”
