Mboko's withdrawal cuts short Williams' comeback
Serena Williams' return to the WTA Tour was cut short at Queen's after the withdrawal of her doubles partner Victoria Mboko.
Victoria Mboko's injury-enforced withdrawal from Queen's has cut short Serena Williams' comeback.
Williams made her return to the WTA Tour alongside Mboko in the doubles at Queen's earlier this week.
After nearly four years away, the 44-year-old helped Mboko beat Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe.
However, Mboko sustained a nasty injury during her singles clash against Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old was subsequently forced to withdraw, meaning Williams has had to pull out.
Williams, who has won 23 grand slam titles, is set to compete at the Berlin Open next week and could yet feature at Wimbledon.
