Total Rejection: Real Madrid Fans Are Not Happy About Mauricio Pochettino’s Arrival
The potential arrival of Mauricio Pochettino at Real Madrid is not convincing the fanbase. Around the Bernabéu, many supporters prefer names like Jürgen Klopp or even José Mourinho, while the club evaluates a major sporting restructure.
Bernabéu unconvinced: Pochettino faces backlash from supporters
The possibility of seeing Mauricio Pochettino on the Real Madrid bench has sparked intense debate among the club’s supporters. Although the Argentine coach has been linked with the club in recent weeks, a large portion of the Madrid fanbase does not seem enthusiastic about the idea.
Outside the Santiago Bernabéu, several supporters have voiced their skepticism about the profile of the current United States national team manager. According to testimonies gathered by BOLAVIP, many fans believe the Argentine does not have the winning pedigree required at Europe’s most decorated club.
“He’s not a bad coach, but he’s not at Real Madrid’s level,” said one supporter. Others went even further, pointing out that his spells at elite clubs such as Chelsea did not leave the impact expected at teams with the highest demands.
The most common argument among fans is that the Argentine lacks major trophies at the top level of European football.
Klopp and Mourinho emerge as the fan favorites
While Pochettino divides opinion, other names clearly excite the fanbase. The favorite among many supporters appears to be Jürgen Klopp, the mastermind behind Liverpool’s Champions League and Premier League triumphs.
“I’d rather have Klopp than Pochettino,” one fan insisted. The German is widely seen as a coach with personality, competitive intensity, and a style of play that could match the expectations at the Spanish giants.
Some supporters even mention another surprising option: the return of José Mourinho. For a portion of Madridistas, the Portuguese coach represents the authority and character they believe are necessary to handle a dressing room full of stars.
Much of the criticism directed at the Argentine coach focuses on that exact point. “I don’t see the blood needed to manage Real Madrid,” another supporter said, reflecting a sentiment shared by several fans interviewed.
Real Madrid considering a major internal overhaul
While the debate intensifies among supporters, discussions are also taking place inside the club’s leadership. According to reports from Spanish outlets such as Mundo Deportivo, the board is analyzing a possible sporting restructuring that could reshape several key areas of the project.
Among the figures reportedly under evaluation are José Ángel Sánchez and Juni Calafat, two executives who have played significant roles in the club’s sporting strategy in recent years.
Choosing the next manager will be one of the most crucial decisions in this process. The club is determined to avoid mistakes at a time when competitive pressure is extremely high, especially after the failed attempt to appoint Xabi Alonso in the recent past.

The future of the bench could depend on trophies
The future of Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach remains another key factor in the situation. According to multiple reports, the manager could keep his job if the team achieves major success in Europe, particularly by winning the next Champions League.
Otherwise, the club may be forced to search for a new coach to begin a new era. That is where several candidates come into play: Jürgen Klopp, Massimiliano Allegri, Unai Emery, Cesc Fàbregas, and of course Mauricio Pochettino.
However, the path to Madrid may not be easy for the Argentine. In addition to the doubts from supporters, other clubs could compete for his services. According to reports, Tottenham would be interested in bringing the coach back.
