Paris Saint-Germain will enter the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League with a historic opportunity. After winning the 2024-25 and 2025-26 editions, Luis Enrique's team can become the first European three-peat winner since Real Madrid lifted the trophy in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The challenge is enormous, but the reigning champion retains many of the qualities that have made it Europe's most successful team over the past two seasons.

Can PSG win a third consecutive UEFA Champions League title?
Paris Saint-Germain enters the 2026-27 season with the chance to achieve something not seen since Zinédine Zidane's Real Madrid: win Europe's biggest club competition for a third straight year.
Two titles that changed PSG's European status

The first title came in May 2025, when PSG produced a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter in the final in Munich. One year later, the French club proved that breakthrough was no isolated success. PSG drew 1-1 with Arsenal in Budapest before winning the penalty shootout 4-3 to retain the trophy.
Its success has also extended to France. PSG secured its 14th Ligue 1 championship in 2025-26 and a fifth consecutive league title. The continuity of Luis Enrique and a core featuring Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Vitinha, João Neves, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes gives the club a proven foundation for another European run.
The squad continues to add options

The summer has brought additional depth. Maghnes Akliouche and Lucas Digne both featured in PSG's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, while Ferran Torres, a World Cup winner with Spain, arrived from Barcelona to provide another attacking option.
That depth could matter over a Champions League campaign that includes eight league-phase matches before the knockout rounds. PSG is also no longer built around one superstar. Luis Enrique's structure spreads responsibility across the team and retains a recognizable core from the two previous title-winning campaigns.
A third title is far from guaranteed
Last season also showed how narrow the margins can be. Arsenal won all eight of its league-phase matches in 2025-26 and pushed PSG to penalties in the final. Bayern Munich was eliminated only after a remarkable 6-5 aggregate semifinal against the French champion.
History illustrates the scale of the challenge. Since the Champions League era began in 1992-93, only Real Madrid has won three consecutive editions. PSG has the continuity, talent and recent experience to pursue the same achievement. The 2026-27 campaign will determine whether its current winning cycle can become one of the defining runs in modern European soccer.
