Vincent Kompany believes there is "no doubt" Bayern Munich's goal this season is to win the Champions League.

Bayern were dominant in their domestic campaign, cruising to the Bundesliga title before also winning the DFB-Pokal for the first time since 2019-20.

They won their 35th Bundesliga title, as well as their 13th across the last 14 seasons, while Kompany's side also set a new record for most goals in a single German top-flight campaign (122).

Bayern fell two points short of equalling the Bundesliga points record (91), which they set themselves in 2012-13, while Kompany became the second-youngest manager to have won the league title twice.

However, Bayern fell short in their pursuit of Champions League glory, losing 6-5 on aggregate to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

Ahead of their pre-season friendly against Aston Villa, Kompany outlined Bayern's target for the 2026-27 season.

"It's difficult to improve – after all, it's not just about the trophies we've won, but also about the number of goals and matches we've won," said Kompany.

"It's possible, but difficult. Right now, I'd say our aim is to win the Champions League; there's no doubt about that.

"And throughout the season, I'll be saying that we need to focus on the next match. To achieve that – to win the Bundesliga, the cup and the Champions League – we need the whole squad to be fit and healthy.

"We need to make good use of them and improve the squad. We've already done that, but hopefully it will help us achieve our goals."

Bayern will find out their opponents for the league phase of the Champions League on August 27, while their competitive season begins five days earlier in the DFL-Supercup against Borussia Dortmund.
