Reports: Galatasaray breaks the market and has already sealed Leroy Sané’s signing from Bayern Munich
Galatasaray is about to make a historic splash in the transfer market by landing German winger Leroy Sané from Bayern Munich. According to Sky Sports, the 29-year-old has decided not to extend his deal with the German giants and is now finalizing the details of his move to Istanbul — one of the most eye-catching transfers of the summer in Europe.
The deal is nearly done, with a contract running through 2028 and an annual net salary of around $16.2 million (15 million euros). That figure easily beats out offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the Premier League, showing just how ambitious the reigning Süper Lig champions really are.
Galatasaray aiming high in the Champions League
Sané, who’s reportedly already informed Bayern of his decision to leave, would join as a free agent after four years in Munich and a previous spell at Manchester City. Despite a patchy final season — with just 11 goals and 5 assists across all competitions — the winger is still a high-level player with loads of international experience. He played 220 matches for the Bavarians, scoring 61 goals and providing 55 assists.
For Galatasaray, signing him is a clear signal that they want to shine in the UEFA Champions League too. They’re not just getting a proven difference-maker — they’re also sending a strong message to the rest of Europe: they mean business. In Turkey, fans are already getting ready for a big-time unveiling at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium, where he’s expected to be welcomed like a superstar.
Sané’s departure also gives Bayern some breathing room financially, clearing a big chunk off the wage bill and letting them focus on revamping their attack. Meanwhile, Turkish football gets a major boost in visibility and prestige with this move, which could shake up the 2025/26 season both on and off the pitch.
