Although the institutional leaders at Lens were unhappy at having to take an enforced break last weekend to allow downtime for PSG to play the team’s Champions League double-header against Liverpool, this time off could well work out in the title challenger’s favor in Friday’s clash against Toulouse that is live on beIN SPORTS.

Lens has been a constant thorn in PSG’s side in the Ligue 1 title race and currently sit just four points behind the leaders, having played one more game. Nevertheless, a win for Lens in Friday’s home clash against Toulouse and PSG dropping points against Lyon on Sunday will open up the title race once again.

Toulouse test awaits

The reason why Lens might have benefitted from a weekend away from Ligue 1 action was that a small squad was showing signs of fatigue, having lost two of its previous three league games, including a damaging 3-0 derby loss to Lille.

Friday’s Ligue 1 match against Toulouse is the first of a back-to-back game against the team. The second match is on Tuesday in a Coupe de France semifinal match-up. A couple of victories for Lens over the next five days could well help cement a place in next season’s Champions League, at a minimum, and lead to an eventual French Cup win. It’s not a bad return at all for one of France's most historic clubs.
