Raúl González Says He Will Return to Real Madrid
- Raúl González, legend of Real Madrid, confirmed that he will eventually return to the club, though he insists on patience and not forcing his comeback, while also leaving the door open to coaching Spain’s national team in the future.
A comeback that feels inevitable
Former striker and ex-Real Madrid Castilla coach Raúl González Blanco once again spoke about his future and made it clear that he is convinced he will return to the club of his life. In a recent interview, the former captain affirmed that “he will return to Real Madrid when the time is right,” stressing the importance of patience and waiting for the right opportunity.
“I know I’ll be back at Real Madrid when the moment comes. Things shouldn’t be forced. It’s about being calm, patient and letting the plan unfold,” said Raúl, who spent six seasons coaching the club’s reserve side and helped develop several youngsters now playing at the highest level.
Although his dream of managing the first team has yet to come true, the former striker has not ruled out other challenges, including the chance of leading the Spanish national team one day. “Right now, I don’t see it in the short term, but in the medium or long term, why not? It’s a possibility,” he admitted.
Building experience at the academy
At Valdebebas, Raúl was recognized for his ability to balance discipline with a personal touch, guiding young players through crucial stages of their development. He explained that the most rewarding part of his coaching role was watching academy prospects grow into professionals, with some even reaching the senior Spanish national team.
“As a coach, you need to lead your staff and 20 players, all of whom think they’re good enough and all of whom want to play. It’s vocational. For me, it was wonderful to see how those kids grew and took the leap,” said the former forward.
Raúl also emphasized the importance of balance for young footballers, from nutrition to rest habits. Aware that the ages between 18 and 20 are filled with energy and distractions, he insists that sacrifice and smart choices are key to long-term success.
A future open, but eyes on the Bernabéu
The three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid made it clear that, while his present is focused on family and personal projects, his connection with the club remains unbreakable. “I’ve been at the club where I always wanted to be, which is my home, and I know I’ll return when the time comes,” he stated.
