Won the Champions League, But Real Madrid Does Not Lead UEFA Rankings
Real Madrid has moved into second place, right behind Manchester City, in the club rankings made official by UEFA this Friday.
The Champions League win by the white team this season wasn't enough to surpass City and take the top spot, earning 119,000 points compared to the English club's 123,000.
Since 2021, Pep Guardiola's team has won one Champions League, reached one final, and made it to the semifinals, making them the dominant force in Europe today.
Meanwhile, the white team managed to overtake Bayern Munich, pushing them to third place, with a total of 108,000 points.
This ranking is based on each team's coefficient over the last five seasons, focusing on their results in European competitions, and not taking national leagues into account. Additionally, these rankings determine the seeds in UEFA competition draws.
Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, and Barcelona join Real Madrid as the most notable Spanish clubs, with the yellow team occupying the highest position, seventh place, after winning the Europa League in 2021 and reaching the Champions League semifinals in 2022.
