Ter Stegen on phantom goal: "A disgrace"
The German goalkeeper criticized La Liga for not having goal-line technology following the controversial incident in the Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
German Marc-André ter Stegen, goalkeeper for FC Barcelona, sharply criticized the absence of goal-line technology in La Liga, noting that other leagues "have it" and that it is "a disgrace" that "there isn't money for what's important" in a "world that moves a lot of money."
"There are no words for the lack of technology. Not finding a good angle to check it is a disgrace to football. Other leagues have it, and this world moves a lot of money, so not having it for what's important is a disgrace," he said in the mixed zone.
The German goalkeeper was referring to a controversial incident in the first half of the Clásico, when Lamine Yamal's shot was saved by Lunin, leaving doubts about whether the ball had crossed the goal line. La Liga does not have goal-line technology, relying on television angles to determine whether the ball crossed the line in such situations, yet in a major Clásico, with the world watching, no images were able to clarify whether the ball crossed the line.
Additionally, the Barcelona goalkeeper lamented his team's defeat, with Bellingham's 91st-minute goal making it 3-2 and leaving them 11 points behind Real Madrid with just 18 points left to play for. "We had everything in our favor and couldn't take all three points," he noted.
