Brahim Díaz's Jab in Response to The Spanish National Team Coach
Brahim Díaz explained his decision to choose Morocco over Spain to play internationally and responded to statements made by Spanish national team coach Luis de la Fuente, asserting that he did not pressure anyone before making his "grateful to everyone" final decision.
"I am calm, in the end I respect and have remained silent on a topic that I had to choose. They are two countries that I love like Morocco and Spain. I have grown up in Spain, Málaga is my city, and I have Moroccan roots from my family. That's how I decided. They have given me an opportunity, they have the same desire as me, they have given me affection and love," he explained on 'Universo Valdano'.
"I don't pressure anyone, I focus on playing and demonstrating things on the field, I have always done that and I'm not going to change now," he said in response to the initial explanations offered by Luis de la Fuente, who was going to call up Brahim this Friday and informed him of his decision to choose Morocco.
Brahim expressed gratitude to Spain, having played in its youth categories and even made his debut in a friendly with the senior team, as well as to Morocco, with which he confessed he dreams of playing in World Cups.
"Morocco has always been there and it happened that way. In the end, I have made a choice and there is no need to go round in circles. I am grateful to everyone always. It's a choice I have made and I am totally focused on the decisions that are made. In life, you have to make decisions," he argued.
"These are two countries that I love, I have Moroccan roots, and I am proud. I have grown up in Spain and it's about a choice. I have chosen what is mine and I am eager to show it. I dream of playing in World Cups," he added.
In fact, he did not hide the excitement with which he experienced Morocco's journey in the last World Cup, where they eliminated the Spanish national team.
"I identify with what they achieved in the last World Cup, I was happy about what they accomplished. It's a very good team, outstanding. I don't usually pay attention to whether I'm in the media spotlight, I stay away from all that. I speak on the field, that's where I like to talk. I have chosen what I want, they have given me an incredible opportunity. There's no need to dwell on it or look back, we must focus on what comes next from now on. I am greatly thankful," he concluded.
