The Shirt Messi Will Wear in The Copa America
The Argentine national team presented in an emotional video the new kits they will use in their upcoming matches, which include nods to the 2022 Qatar World Cup, where the team secured their third star, and to their fans.
"The champions already have their new shirts. Always, life for the colors of our country," posted the Argentine Football Association (AFA) on Instagram.
The footage shows a child drawing the jersey with pencils while humming the Argentine national anthem, and as he prepares to draw the new star, he begins to remember the great moments experienced by Lionel Scaloni's team at the end of that year, with players like Ángel Di María, Paulo Dybala, or Emiliano Martínez appearing.
Just at that moment, the captain, Lionel Messi, appears holding the pencil, and the new skin of the team is seen for the first time on the different players, interspersed with images of celebration that took place in the Argentine capital after lifting the golden cup.
As described on the official AFA website, the home jersey "combines the albiceleste with gold, representing the glory obtained by the World Champions after the epic final against France."
Meanwhile, the away jersey "features a bluish tone, this time combined with metallic details, and the inclusion of light blue and white stripes representing fans' flags in stadiums."
As a nod to the extraordinary journey of the 'Scaloneta', which also won the Copa America in 2021 and the Finalissima in 2022, both kits feature the new AFA badge with the three stars and maintain the Sol de Mayo symbol on the back of the neck, which is on the flag and was also present on the World Cup jersey.
Argentina will debut these jerseys in the friendly matches they will play in the United States on the 22nd of this month against El Salvador at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, and on the 26th against Costa Rica at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
