Just hours before Jürgen Klopp announces his first squad as Germany's new head coach, Toni Kroos delivered strong criticism of some of the players who represented the team at the last World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Toni Kroos Calls Out Germany Players Who Failed to Meet Expectations
Toni Kroos did not hold back when analyzing Germany's performance at the last World Cup, directly naming Aleksandar Pavlovic, Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala as three players who failed to live up to expectations during the tournament.
The former Real Madrid midfielder discussed the German national team's performance on the 'Einfach Mal Luppen' podcast, which he hosts alongside his brother Felix, and did not hesitate to directly name three players whose performances he considered disappointing during the competition.
Kroos Directly Calls Out Three Players
While analyzing what happened to Germany at the World Cup, Kroos was emphatic and singled out Aleksandar Pavlovic, Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala.
"I've singled out three players who didn't show up at the World Cup: Pavlovic, Wirtz and Musiala," the 2014 World Cup winner said.
The statement even surprised his brother Felix, who initially did not understand whether Kroos meant the three players had not participated in the tournament or whether he was directly criticizing their performances.
The comments come at a time of change for Germany, who are looking to move on from their performance at the last World Cup and begin a new era under Jürgen Klopp.
The Players Kroos Wants to See With Germany
In addition to naming those who, in his view, fell short of expectations, Kroos also mentioned three young players he would like to see included in the German national team's next squad.
His candidates include Tom Bischof and Lennart Karl, both of Bayern Munich, as well as Saïd El Mala of Cologne.
Klopp's first squad announcement is generating significant interest following his arrival as Germany's head coach. The new manager will be tasked with beginning a rebuilding process after the team's result at the World Cup.
