Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, is standing by his position on where the 2030 World Cup final will be played. The Spanish executive believes Morocco will ultimately host the biggest match of the tournament it will organize alongside Spain and Portugal.
Tebas Says the 2030 World Cup Final Will Be Held in Morocco
Javier Tebas once again pointed to Morocco as the host of the 2030 World Cup final and believes that will be the case as long as Gianni Infantino remains in charge of FIFA, although the governing body has yet to officially announce where the title match will be played.
During a conference organized in Huesca by the Association of Directors and Executives of Aragon (ADEA), Tebas reiterated his prediction and directly linked it to Gianni Infantino’s continued tenure as FIFA president.
The LaLiga president said that as long as Infantino remains in office and there is no surprise, he expects the final to ultimately be held on Moroccan soil.
Tebas Points to Morocco’s Influence Within FIFA
One of the arguments mentioned by Tebas was the position of Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. The Spanish executive highlighted the influence of the Moroccan official, who is also a member of the FIFA Executive Committee.
Lekjaa had already publicly stated that the 2030 World Cup final will be played at the Grand Stade Hassan II, a stadium currently under construction in the Casablanca region. FIFA, however, has maintained that no final decision has yet been made regarding the venue for the match.
Tebas also referred to the scale of the Hassan II project and suggested that the construction of a stadium of such magnitude reflects Morocco’s intentions to host the decisive match.
Spain Also Wants to Host the Final
Tebas’ position contrasts with that of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Its president, Rafael Louzán, has publicly argued that Spain should host the final and emphasized that FIFA has yet to make an official decision.
Despite his prediction, Tebas said he would rather see Spain win the World Cup than host the tournament’s final.
The venue for the title match therefore remains one of the main talking points surrounding the 2030 World Cup. Morocco has openly expressed its intention to host it, while Spain is also maintaining its bid, with the final decision still in FIFA’s hands.
