Barcelona Agrees on a Friendly Match With a Major Arab Country
FC Barcelona, with millions of fans around the world, continues to consolidate its global expansion strategy. One of its main initiatives in this regard has been the creation of training academies in different countries, under the Barça Academy project.
According to the specialized FCB World account on the social network X, the Libyan government's Minister of Investment, Ali Al Saidi, and the member of the House of Representatives, Al Salihin Abdul Nabi, recently met with Barça president Joan Laporta. At the meeting, it was agreed to open a Barça academy in Libya as part of the Barça Experience project in the North African country.
One of the highlights of the agreement would be the organization of a friendly match in the city of Benghazi, the second most populated city in Libya after Tripoli. The date of the match has not yet been confirmed, and the club is expected to announce it officially in the coming days through its usual channels.
A global preseason for Barça
FC Barcelona will kick off its 2025/26 preseason next Sunday, July 13, with the traditional medical tests for the players after their return from vacation.
The following day, Monday, July 14, the squad coached by Hansi Flick will hold its first double training session in preparation for its Asian tour.
The blaugrana team has three matches scheduled on the Asian continent:
* Vissel Kobe (Japan) - July 27.
* FC Seoul (South Korea) - July 31
* Daegu FC (South Korea) - 4 August
This tour will mark Barça's return to Asia for the first time since 2019.
Record tour for the club
According to estimates, these three matches could represent a minimum income of US$18 million for the Catalan club. However, that figure could rise to $30 million if certain as yet unspecified conditions are met.
So far, FC Barcelona record revenue for a preseason tour stands at $14 million, achieved in 2017 during their U.S. tour, where they faced Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Current projections indicate that the Asian tour in the summer of 2025 could far surpass that all-time record.
Great news for international fans
Without a doubt, this expansion represents excellent news for Culés fans in North Africa and Asia. Barça is looking to strengthen its global presence, and initiatives such as the opening of academies and friendly matches in new regions are key to strengthening ties with its international fan base.
