Neither Madrid nor Barcelona: This is The club With The Most Champions in Europe
"I proudly say that Barça is the greatest sports club in the world. We have accumulated 48 Champions," these were Laporta's statements that sparked an interesting debate in public opinion, as internet users question who really is the club with the most Champions.
Barcelona fans who believed Laporta will be pleasantly surprised, as their club is not the one with the most titles, but rather a historic Russian football club. CSKA boasts 86 championships: 34 in fencing, 20 in ice hockey, 13 in volleyball, eight in basketball, three in chess, three in women's volleyball, two in women's fencing, one in handball, one in women's rugby, and one in water polo. These numbers contrast significantly with the 48 touted by the Blaugrana executive.
This striking fact came to light thanks to the excellent work of journalist David Fernández, who not only found a new "King" after reviewing 225 disciplines across 98 different sports but also revealed that Real Madrid is within the top 10, with only 26 Champions to their name.
