Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappé, or Harry Kane? Who Will Be the Top Scorer of EURO 2024?
No one has been a more prolific goal scorer on their way to EURO 2024 than Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, French sensation Kylian Mbappé, and English striker Harry Kane. With 44 goals each for Al Nassr, Paris Saint Germain, and Bayern Munich respectively, these three players head to Germany as favorites.
These players form the core of their teams' attacking power—Portugal, France, and England—each boosted by these incredible goal scorers. Behind them, Erling Haaland and Luuk de Jong have netted 38 goals each for Manchester City and PSV Eindhoven, but neither will be participating in the tournament.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to lead the pack. Despite playing in the less competitive Saudi league, his tally of 44 goals in 45 matches is a testament to his enduring talent at 39 years old. This will be his sixth Euro, having first appeared in 2004.
Mbappé, with 44 goals in 48 matches for PSG, is also set for a move to Real Madrid. He leaves PSG with an impressive 256 goals in 308 matches. Meanwhile, Harry Kane has been just as prolific in his debut season with Bayern Munich, scoring 44 goals in 44 games, even though the team fell short in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Other notable players include Belgian Lois Openda with 28 goals in 45 games for Leipzig, and Phil Foden, the Premier League Player of the Season, who scored 27 goals in 35 matches for Manchester City.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, called up by Gareth Southgate, has scored 25 goals in 45 matches, while Polish star Robert Lewandowski, sidelined for the first game due to injury, has netted 26 for Barcelona. Englishman Ollie Watkins has scored 27 times in 53 games for Aston Villa.
In terms of minutes played this season, no player in the Euro has spent more time on the pitch than Scottish defender Ryan Porteous of Watford, with 4,900 minutes over 63 matches, followed by Atlético Madrid's Jan Oblak with 4,890 minutes and Italian Bryan Cristante with 4,509 minutes for Roma
