Cristiano Ronaldo and Iniesta Ambassadors for The 2030 World Cup
Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, and Nouredinne Naybet are some of the ambassadors for the joint bid of Spain, Portugal, and Morocco for the 2030 World Cup.
The ambassadors were introduced at a ceremony at the City of Football in Oeiras, on the outskirts of Lisbon, where the bid also unveiled its logo and vision.
In addition to Cristiano, Iniesta, and Naybet, there are Luis Figo, Irene Paredes, Álvaro Morata, Yassine Bounou, Ghizlane Chebbak, Emmanuel Debayor, and Dolores Silva.
Not all of them were present on Tuesday at the City of Football, and some like Cristiano Ronaldo, Morata, or Iniesta chose to record videos.
Morata emphasized in his recording the "shared passion" of the three countries across two continents and the message of unity and peace that this World Cup wants to convey.
Meanwhile, Cristiano said in an impromptu video that "Portugal has already demonstrated in the past its organizational capacity" and that 2030 will be a year of "glory and success."
Andrés Iniesta, on his part, recalled how "special" it is to win a World Cup and how special it can be to experience it in one's own country.
"I was born in 1984 and I could see the impact" of the 1982 World Cup in Spain, he emphasized.
Figo, who was present at the ceremony, highlighted the importance of celebrating the relationship between the fans and the players and recalled the Euro 2004 organized by Portugal, which was a victory not only for the country but for all of Europe.
