Lyon have signed Lois Openda on a season-long loan deal from Juventus.

The Ligue 1 side have paid a loan fee of €3.5m for the striker, who struggled during his debut campaign with Juve last season.

Openda, who joined Juve on loan from RB Leipzig ahead of the 2025-26 season before that move was made permanent for €42.8m, scored just twice in 34 appearances as Luciano Spalletti's side missed out on the Champions League places.

The 26-year-old's poor form saw him omitted from Belgium's 2026 World Cup squad, having also failed to score in five qualifying matches for the tournament.

Lyon finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, meaning Openda could make his competitive debut during their Champions League third-round qualifying match against Sparta Prague on August 4.

"I've heard a lot of good things about the club and the city," Openda told the club website.

"I've spoken extensively with the coach, who explained his playing philosophy and how he wants to use me. We were both quite eager.

"I've also spoken a lot with the Belgian players on the team and I can't wait to see our connection on the pitch.

"I'm a football lover who wants to get back to playing soon, to make the fans happy, and above all, to win."

Openda does have Ligue 1 experience, representing Lens in the 2022-23 season.

He scored 21 goals in 38 league games during that campaign, a tally bettered only by Kylian Mbappe (29), Alexandre Lacazette (27) and Jonathan David (24).

Paulo Fonseca's team will open their Ligue 1 campaign against Toulouse on August 22, before they host Le Havre the following week.
