Amorim hints at double goal for AC Milan
Ahead of his first season with AC Milan, Ruben Amorim has set his side lofty goals in both Serie A and the UEFA Europa League, believing his new side can win both trophies.
A disappointing end to its Serie A campaign last season, which saw Milan win just one of its past five games, meant the Rossoneri missed out on the UEFA Champions League places.
Milan lost 2-1 to Cagliari on the final day of the season, which also proved to be Massimiliano Allegri's final game as coach, allowing Como to finish in the top four.
Milan earned 70 points in a Serie A season while ending the campaign outside the top four for the first time in its history.
But Amorim does not want to dwell on the past.
"I can't come here and say that we can't or don't want to win the title," Amorim said.
"There's a lot of work to do, with a new coach and changes to the squad, but when you're at a club of Milan's level, you have to aim for the title. So we'll try.
"In the Europa League we have to believe, and we have to want to win the competition.
"Everyone wants everything, immediately, but things done well take time. My choice is to do the right things at the right moment."
Milan has two more pre-season friendlies, against Chelsea and Amorim's former side Manchester United, before its Serie A campaign begins on 24 August (AEST).
The Rossoneri face Torino away from home in their first game, before hosting Venezia at San Siro five days later.
