Volpato stunner helps Sassuolo to first win
Cristian Volpato scored with a one-time finish as Sassuolo recorded its first win of the new Serie A season with a 2-1 home win over Torino.
The Australia winger had no hesitation when the ball broke to him on the right after a quick break out of defence by the hosts, sweeping home a curling strike from 25 yards that left Torino goalkeeper Diego Mascardi no hope of saving.
Pietro Comuzzo levelled matters for Torino in stoppage-time at the end of the first half, but Domenico Berardi came off the bench to seal the win for Sassuolo, smashing home a left-foot strike inside the box after the visitors failed to adequately clear a free-kick.
Sassuolo moved up to 12th with the three points from this match while Torino remains winless after two matches and two defeats.
