Mbappé Equals Messi, Dominates Manchester City in Champions League

Kylian Mbappé delivered another "magical" Champions League performance, sending a clear warning to other contenders aiming for European glory—a competition that, by tradition, belongs to Real Madrid.

The French forward not only matched but also surpassed Lionel Messi’s record against Manchester City, making the reigning champions his favorite victims.

Mbappé Surpasses Messi’s Champions League Record

Mbappé has now scored seven goals in seven matches against Manchester City, improving on Messi’s seven goals in eight appearances against the same club.

Real Madrid’s new superstar had already found the net against the "Cityzens" as a teenager with AS Monaco in the 2016-17 season before adding more goals while playing for PSG in the 2021-22 campaign.

Now, wearing the iconic white jersey, he delivered a stunning hat-trick—his third in the Champions League—to lead Madrid past one of the tournament favorites and secure a spot in the Round of 16.

Barcelona: Another Favorite Victim

Barcelona is the second team Mbappé has punished most in the Champions League, netting six goals against them. All came during his time at PSG—four in the Round of 16 during the 2020-21 season and two more in the 2023-24 quarterfinals.
