Luis Enrique Believes PSG Should Have Won Against Newcastle United
PSG Coach Luis Enrique asserts his team's superiority over Newcastle in the 1-1 draw secured in the final moments of the UEFA Champions League. He praises the team's resilience and expresses the goal of finishing first in Group F.
"We deserved to win; we were superior. However, football doesn't reward the one who creates more chances but the one who scores more goals. This is football; we are one of the highest-scoring teams in Europe. Some days, the goals don't come, and that's the beauty of football," comments the Asturian coach.
"Today, I would highlight the players and the fans. We felt their strength, and we equalized in the 93rd minute. It was like the script of a horror movie. I hope that in the final matchday, we can win and finish on top," says the former Spain national team coach.
"I am very happy with the behavior and attitude of my players. Proud of their ability to endure frustration. When you're winning, everything flows; when you lose unfairly, it doesn't. They maintained the belief until the 98th minute," he added.
"This team has a special character; they didn't give up until the end, even though sometimes the opponent's penalty area seemed like a 'pinball' machine. You wondered how the ball didn't go in," notes the coach from Gijón.
