The continuity of Francesco Farioli has also provided stability to the project. The Italian coach renewed his contract through 2028 after leading the club to the championship last season and is now trying to keep Porto at the top of Portuguese soccer.
The objective tonight is simple: secure a fifth consecutive victory and remain at the top of the table before the rest of their rivals play.
Moreirense Arrive With Confidence After Returning to Winning Ways
Moreirense are not visiting the Estádio do Dragão simply to make up the numbers.
The team coached by Vasco Botelho da Costa arrive after beating Casa Pia 1-0 in the previous round, a result that allowed them to reach four points from their opening three matches of the season.
The club from Moreira de Cónegos also strengthened its attack in recent days with Leonardo Vonic, who arrived on loan from FC Porto until the end of the season. The 23-year-old striker had scored 14 goals in 40 appearances for FC Porto B during his last two campaigns in Portugal’s second tier.
For Moreirense, the challenge will be surviving the Dragons’ early pressure and taking advantage of any spaces left by a Porto side expected to take the initiative in front of their supporters.
