Tottenham Agree Record £85M Deal for Savinho From Man City as Roberto de Zerbi Plans Etihad Double Raid

  • Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million, while Roberto De Zerbi is also targeting Omar Marmoush as part of a major attacking rebuild.

Tottenham Hotspur have reached a sensational agreement to sign Savinho from Manchester City in a deal that could reach £85 million in total.

The Brazilian winger is the latest high-profile addition to a major investment by Roberto De Zerbi, who is looking to overhaul his squad after the club's recent struggles. The Spurs are now also targeting another Manchester City player, striker Omar Marmoush.

Record deal agreed for Savinho

Tottenham will initially pay £75 million for the 22-year-old, with a further £10 million in performance-related add-ons, according to The Athletic.

The deal would represent a historic sale for Manchester City, making Savinho the most expensive departure in the history of the club.

Tottenham had been interested in the winger for some time, with their interest dating back to last summer. At the time, Spurs discussed an offer worth around €50 million (£43.3 million), but Manchester City were reluctant to sell and instead secured the player's future with a new long-term contract in October, reportedly running until 2031.

Savinho's journey to North London

Savinho's career highlights the City Football Group's multi-club model.

After coming through the youth system at Atlético Mineiro in Brazil, the winger joined French club Troyes in 2022. He subsequently enjoyed successful loan spells at PSV Eindhoven and Girona before becoming part of Manchester City's first-team squad in 2024, in a transfer valued at €40 million.

During his time with City, Savinho made 53 appearances, scoring two goals and providing 12 assists.

His absence from Enzo Maresca's squad for the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on August 16 was viewed as a strong indication that his departure was imminent.

With personal terms already agreed earlier in the summer, Savinho is now expected to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract with the Lilywhites.

De Zerbi wants a double raid on Manchester City

Savinho is not the only Manchester City player on De Zerbi's radar.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are also progressing in negotiations to sign striker Omar Marmoush from the Manchester club.

The Egyptian international is reportedly open to the move as he looks for a more central role and greater prominence after finding himself behind Erling Haaland in the attacking pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

The pursuit of both Savinho and Marmoush highlights a major change in Tottenham's transfer strategy.

De Zerbi reportedly wants to build an entirely new attacking trio, with Cody Gakpo also remaining a firm target for the Spurs.

The potential double move from Manchester City could therefore become one of the defining stories of Tottenham's summer transfer window.
