Mykhailo Mudryk is finally beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel after one of the most difficult periods of his career. The Ukrainian winger arrived at Chelsea as one of European football's brightest young prospects, but his development was interrupted by a doping suspension that kept him away from the game for 20 months.

Mudryk has now returned to action during Chelsea's preseason campaign. He featured against Juventus before making further appearances against Milan and Johor. His playing time has been limited to just 16 minutes, but the appearances marked an important milestone after his last competitive match in November 2024.

The doping case completely disrupted his progress. Mudryk initially faced the possibility of a much longer suspension, but he was eventually cleared to return to professional football. During his absence, he continued training individually in an effort to remain ready for a potential comeback.

Chelsea now appears willing to help him rebuild his career through a loan move. With an overloaded squad and attacking positions needing adjustments, the London club is considering temporary options for the 25-year-old.

Coventry City, managed by Frank Lampard, has emerged as one possible destination, while Strasbourg is also reportedly gaining ground as an option in France.

However, Mudryk's preference appears to be clear. According to English media reports, the Ukrainian would rather remain in England and secure another opportunity in the Premier League.

His Chelsea contract runs until 2031, giving the club plenty of time to see whether the winger can rediscover the form that once made him one of Europe's most highly rated young talents.
