A multibillion-dollar deal could change Liverpool’s future and bring in one of the world’s richest men
A massive financial move is beginning to take shape around Liverpool. A powerful group of investors is negotiating a stake in the club that could reshape the Reds’ financial landscape.
Liverpool could be on the verge of one of the most significant business moves in its recent history.
A consortium of investors is in advanced negotiations to acquire around 30% of the Anfield club’s shares, currently controlled by Fenway Sports Group (FSG).
Among the names involved in the group is Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and one of the wealthiest people on the planet, who could therefore make one of his first major direct investments in football club ownership.
Bezos would not be alone in the deal
The American businessman would be part of a powerful consortium led by Amit Bhatia, the British-Indian businessman who was linked to Queens Park Rangers for several years.
The group also includes Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook, meaning the deal would bring together some of the biggest fortunes associated with the technology sector and international investment.

FSG once again opens the door to new partners
Fenway Sports Group bought Liverpool in 2010 for around £300 million, beginning an era in which the club returned to the top both in England and in Europe.
This would not be the first time the ownership group has allowed outside capital into the club.
In 2023, FSG reached an agreement with American firm Dynasty Equity to bring investment into the club, while for several years its owners have shown a willingness to consider new shareholders without giving up full control of the team.
A new giant could arrive in the Premier League
Bezos’ potential arrival would also have a significant impact on the financial landscape of the Premier League.
The Amazon founder has a fortune estimated at hundreds of billions of dollars, so his arrival would place Liverpool among the clubs associated with some of the wealthiest owners and investors in world football.
For now, the deal has not yet been officially completed, but negotiations have progressed to the point of bringing the American businessman and the rest of the consortium closer to a historic arrival at Anfield.
