In Recent Hours, Rumors Have Been Circulating in the Corridors of the Etihad Stadium That Pep Guardiola Might Not Renew His Contract and Could Be Replaced by a New Coach
In recent hours, rumors have begun circulating in the corridors of the Etihad Stadium that Pep Guardiola may not renew his contract and could be replaced by a new coach
A possible change on the bench?
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could be in danger of losing his contract with the Citizens. The native of Santpedor has one season plus the remainder of this one left on his contract with the Manchester team, where he has been for almost a decade.
According to the British outlet “The Telegraph,” Manchester City dismissed rumors that the Catalan coach would not renew his contract; however, they revealed the possibility of deploying contingency plans, i.e., options that could replace Pep Guardiola’s eventual departure.
Due to these statements, various names of potential coaches linked to Manchester City began to emerge to fill the void left by the manager who led them to win their first UEFA Champions League in the 2022–23 season.
The names to replace Guardiola
One of the names echoing in the corridors of the Etihad Stadium is that of Enzo Maresca, the former Chelsea player who was released from the London club after winning the UEFA Conference League and the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup.
The other name linked to the possible vacancy on the Manchester City bench is Xabi Alonso, who was dismissed from his post as Real Madrid coach after losing the Spanish Super Cup final against FC Barcelona.
The current situation of Manchester City
Manchester City is in second place in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Arsenal. The Citizens’ next match will be the EFL Cup semifinal against Newcastle tomorrow.
