Arne Slot’s Strong Response When Asked About Mohamed Salah
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has come to the defense of Mohamed Salah amid criticism over his slow start to the season. The Egyptian forward, long the team’s main attacking force, is going through one of his quietest spells since joining Anfield, with just three goals in his first twelve matches.
Salah Searching for His Best Form
After a rough run of four straight defeats—three in the Premier League and one in the Champions League—Liverpool finally bounced back with a convincing 5–1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Salah’s performance, having started the match on the bench, once again raised questions about his form and lack of sharpness in front of goal.
When asked about it in a press conference, Arne Slot was blunt: “Everyone goes through tough moments. Players miss chances, and he’s human too. We’re just not used to seeing him fail, but the team has gone through a lot of changes, and adaptation takes time.”
The Dutch coach played down the situation, reaffirming his full confidence in the star forward. “He’s always scored goals for Liverpool—he’s done it all his life, and he’ll do it again. The last thing I’m worried about is Salah not scoring.”
Backing From the Locker Room and the Battle for the Top
Last season, Mohamed Salah was a key figure in Liverpool’s Premier League title win, tallying 29 goals and 18 assists, numbers that cemented his legendary status at the club. This season, his output has dropped: three goals—one from the penalty spot—and three assists, figures that reflect his current inconsistency.
Even so, there’s no panic inside the Reds’ dressing room. Both the players and coaching staff see this as a temporary dip and trust that the Egyptian will soon return to his best.
At the moment, Liverpool sit third in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Arsenal, and will look to close the gap in their next fixture against Brentford.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot insists the key is to stay calm and continue backing a player who has been decisive for years. And while Salah may not be at his peak right now, the manager is certain of one thing: great goal scorers always come back.
