What's Next For Klopp After Leaving Liverpool?
German manager Jürgen Klopp will take a one-year sabbatical after leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Despite having a contract until 2026, Klopp revealed on Friday that he will not accept any job offers for the upcoming season.
"Will I work again? Of course, but I will not coach a club or a country for at least a year," Klopp stated in an interview with Liverpool media. He emphasized that he won't manage any club in England other than Liverpool, citing his deep love and respect for the club and its people.
"My love for this club and my respect for the people is too big. I couldn't even think about it for a second. This is part of my life; we are a family, and here I feel at home," he added.
Klopp, who arrived at Anfield in October 2015, led Liverpool to European glory with the Champions League in 2019 and domestic success with the first Premier League title in 30 years in 2020. His tenure also included an FA Cup, a League Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup.
"I'm running out of energy," Klopp explained in an interview with the club's media, revealing the reasons for his departure: "I have no problem, obviously. I knew I would have to announce it at some point; everything is fine, but I know I can't do this job over and over again."
Klopp informed the board of his departure in November when they began planning for the next season, stating to himself, "I don't know if I'll be here next year."
