Jack Harrison has laid out his ambition to lead the New England Revolution to MLS Cup glory after returning to the United States following nine years of playing in Europe. 

Harrison put pen to paper on a designated player contract running until the end of the 2029-30 campaign last month, having fallen out of favour at Leeds United.

The 29-year-old has returned to MLS nine years after leaving New York City FC for Manchester City, choosing to link up with Eastern Conference high-flyers New England. 

He registered 23 goal involvements (14 goals, nine assists) in 59 league appearances during his time at NYCFC, but will now form a part of Marko Mitrovic's attack this season. 

New England are third in the East heading into this weekend's clash against the Houston Dynamo at Gillette Stadium, with Harrison in line to make his debut for the club. 

The Revolution have failed to qualify for the postseason in their last two campaigns, but Harrison is confident the team can achieve that this year, and even win the MLS Cup. 

"I'm going to be someone who comes in and gives everything that he can on the pitch. I'm always going to do that," Harrison said.

"But also, for an ambitious club and an ambitious city, for a city full of champions in other sports, the Revolution is one team that has not been able to bring a [MLS Cup] trophy back to the city.

"That's going to be my ambition, and it's a huge part of why I wanted to come here. So, I'm going to do everything I can to bring a title back to Boston."

But Houston have aspirations of silverware of their own. They are fourth in the Western Conference and are unbeaten in their last three games since the World Cup break. 

The Dynamo beat Sporting Kansas City 2-0 last time out, with second-half strikes from Guilherme and Agustin Bouzat ensuring they remained in touch with the teams at the top.

However, Houston boss Ben Olsen called for calm when asked about his side's current form, insisting there are still "better teams ahead" of the Dynamo this season. 

"They're in a good place," Olsen said of his Houston team. "We need to stay very humble and understand that this is a team that is still figuring themselves out. 

"We have watched a little bit of New England and there are better teams ahead. So we need to really enjoy our last couple of results. 

"But we need to get back to work and stay focused. We need to believe in ourselves, but again, we need to stay very humble right now and keep getting better."

New England Revolution – Carles Gil

Gil was involved in both goals for New England in their 2-2 draw at Montreal last time out, scoring once and assisting once.

It was Gil's 14th regular-season match with a goal and an assist, the second most in the Revolution's history behind only Diego Fagundez (15).

Houston Dynamo – Guilherme

Guilherme scored the opening goal in the Dynamo's 2-0 win Saturday, taking his MLS tally to 10 for the 2026 campaign, and he will be keen to get on the scoresheet again here.

Houston have collected 19 points in the nine matches in which Guilherme has contributed to a goal this season (2.1 points per match) compared to 10 points in the eight matches in which he has not (1.3 points per match).

MATCH PREDICTION: New England REVOLUTION WIN

After winning just two of their first 10 all-time home matches against Houston (D6 L2), New England have won five straight meetings against the Dynamo in Foxborough dating back to 2014, outscoring them 11-1 in those games.

The Revolution have also won eight of their first 10 home league matches in 2026 (D1 L1) after managing just nine home wins over the last two seasons combined.

This is the second time New England have won eight of their first 10 home matches of a season, also doing so in their Supporters' Shield-winning 2021 campaign.

Houston, meanwhile, are unbeaten in five straight regular-season matches (W3 D2) following their win over Sporting KC. The Dynamo have allowed just two goals over those five games, keeping clean sheets in each of the last two.
