Lens lost more ground in the Ligue 1 title race as they were beaten 3-0 by local rivals Lille, with the result leaving them four points behind Paris Saint-Germain.

Having watched PSG widen their lead at the summit by beating Toulouse 3-1 on Friday, Pierre Sage's team were unable to issue a response, and Luis Enrique's champions could go even further clear as they possess a game in hand.

Hakon Arnar Haraldsson turned Matias Fernandez-Pardo's centre into an unguarded net to break the deadlock in the 44th minute, capping a first half that was twice halted due to crowd behaviour.

Lille doubled their advantage four minutes into the second period as Felix Correia rounded Robin Risser and tapped home, with the same player missing a golden chance to make it 3-0 shortly afterwards.

With Lens falling well short of their usual standards, Lille did get another goal just before the hour mark, with Fernandez-Pardo converting from the penalty spot after Ismaelo Ganiou's handball.

The victory lifts Lille above Marseille and into the Champions League places, while Lens' title dreams may be all but over, even before they meet PSG in a match that was due to be played next weekend but was pushed back following a request from the European champions.

Lens only fired off five shots in Saturday's game, their fewest in any Ligue 1 contest since March 30, 2025 (also five), which was against... Lille.

Bruno Genesio's hosts were deserved victors after attempting 13 shots and tallying 3.63 expected goals (xG), with Lens only putting up a paltry 0.59 xG.

It was also the first time Lens had failed to score since a 2-0 loss at Metz on October 29, 2025, ending a run of 21 straight matches with a goal in all competitions.

It was a notable occasion for Fernandez-Pardo, the scorer of Lille's third goal and assister of their first, as he reached 11 goal involvements in Ligue 1 this season (six goals, five assists). He is the youngest player in the competition to put up double figures in 2025-26, at 21 years and 60 days old.
