Controversy Cleared Up: Lyon Clarifies What Real Madrid Really Asked for Endrick
Lyon Denies Clause Imposed by Real Madrid in Loan Deal
Olympique de Lyon denied reports that Real Madrid included a mandatory clause in Endrick’s loan requiring the forward to play at least 25 matches before June under threat of a financial penalty.
During the official presentation of the Brazilian attacker, the French club’s board stated that the loan agreement contains no additional conditions beyond the agreed fee. “There is nothing else in the contract,” said CEO Michaël Gerlinger, firmly putting an end to the rumors that had circulated in recent days.
Sporting director Matthieu Louis-Jean was even more emphatic, offering a remark that reassured the club’s environment: “Don’t worry, he will play 25 matches… or more.”
Real Madrid signed Endrick in 2022 when he was 16 years old, but his involvement with the first team was limited following the arrival of Xabi Alonso on the bench, a situation worsened by a muscle injury that stalled his development.
Now, the young Brazilian begins a new chapter in Ligue 1 with a clear objective: to gain minutes, earn a key role, and relaunch his career at both club level and with the Brazil national team.
“I want to play, win, and help Lyon compete at the top,” Endrick said, also confirming he received advice from Carlo Ancelotti: “Go, play, and develop your football.”
