Metz Send Lorient into Relegation
Lorient now finds themselves in the depths of relegation after stumbling at their home ground, Stade du Moustoir, against an in-form Metz side (2-3) that sealed the victory in the final moments. Despite an early lead by Senegalese Tidiane Cheick Sabaly, matched by Romain Faivre six minutes later, Lorient couldn't sustain their momentum, succumbing to Eli Junior Kroupi's goal in the second half.
Metz, however, maintained control throughout, leveling at 2-2 with Ismael Traore's goal and securing all three points with a penalty expertly converted by Gambian Ablie Jallow in the 83rd minute. This victory marks Metz's second consecutive triumph, bringing their total to 16 points and placing them comfortably in the middle of the overall table.
On the contrary, Lorient's descent into relegation reflects a stark contrast to their previous standing among the top teams.
