In the first half of the match, both teams were unable to gain an advantage despite clear goal-scoring opportunities. It wasn't until the second half that Metz capitalized on a mistake by Mostafa Mohamed and took the lead from the penalty spot thanks to Mikautadze's excellent execution in the 58th minute. Later on, Udol further extended the visitors' lead with a superb goal at the end of an exceptional play in the 60th minute.

With this result, Metz secures valuable points to try to avoid relegation, putting them just 2 points away from Montpellier and Lorient. Meanwhile, Nantes dropped to thirteenth place with 22 points.
