Lens were on a two-game winning streak before encountering the goal scored by Lille in added time of the first half, courtesy of Benjamin Andre's headed finish from a cross by Kosovar Edon Zhegrova. Machado changed the game after coming on as a substitute for Khusanov in the 69th minute, quickly finding the net and securing the crucial equalizer.
