River Plate Reach 100 Consecutive Sold Outs in Gallardo Farewell
River Plate experienced a historic night at the Mâs Monumental during their clash against Banfield in Matchday 7 of the Torneo Apertura. The 3-1 victory not only marked the end of Marcelo Gallardo’s second spell as head coach, but also sealed an unprecedented milestone: 100 consecutive sold-out matches.
With a capacity of 85,018 spectators, the stadium was once again packed to the brim in an emotionally charged evening. The ovation for Gallardo — the most decorated coach in the club’s history — symbolized the end of an era defined by trophies, identity, and lasting impact. The club has also announced a major expansion and full roofing project, including the construction of a new 360° upper tier that will increase capacity to 101,000 seats within approximately 36 months. Once completed, it will become the second-largest club stadium in the world while also expanding access for members.

A Model Beyond Football
With 352,712 registered members, River tops Argentina’s membership rankings and stands as the third-largest club globally in terms of membership base, behind Bayern Munich and Benfica.
