Boca Juniors Officially Announces La Bombonera Expansion Project
Boca Juniors has officially approved the construction of access towers with elevators and stairways that will lead to the upper stands of La Bombonera, connected by a pedestrian suspension bridge built above the railway tracks.
Details revealed to beIN SPORTS USA.
Access Towers – La Bombonera Set to Reach 80,000+ Capacity
Club Atlético Boca Juniors confirmed what had already been anticipated weeks ago and widely discussed: the presentation of a series of preliminary projects aimed at achieving the long-awaited expansion and renovation of La Bombonera, which is expected to host more than 80,000 spectators.
Through its official social media platform @BocaJrs, addressing its members and fans, and with render images showing how the new access points would look above the railway tracks, it was confirmed that the CNRT (National Commission for Transport Regulation) has approved the preliminary project for the construction of access towers to the upper tiers. This had previously been approved by FerroSur (a freight railway company), which determined that the project would not interfere with train operations.
Statement:
Dear members and fans:
We are very pleased to share an important step forward regarding the new stadium access points.
Club Atlético Boca Juniors has presented a preliminary project that includes the construction of four towers with elevators and stairways, connected by pedestrian bridges that will cross above the railway tracks, improving access and circulation across different sections of the stadium.
Today, through Ferrosur Roca S.A., we received confirmation from the National Commission for Transport Regulation (CNRT), which approved the project and validated its technical feasibility.
This means something very clear: the project is viable, it has been evaluated by the appropriate authorities, and there are no technical obstacles to moving forward.
From this moment on, the club is working on preparing the final project documentation.
We continue to move forward, step by step, toward the club we all dream of.

This project is one of 77 total works under the current administration: 48 already completed and 13 in progress, all initiated since Riquelme took part in the previous management, where he served as vice president under Jorge Amor Ameal. When asked about the state of Estadio Alberto J Armando, he was clear:
“We received our home in ruins, it was destroyed and neglected.”
La Bombonera Hosts Argentina National Team
This Friday the 27th and Tuesday the 31st, La Bombonera will host the Argentina National Team for their final friendlies before traveling to USA 2026.
The reigning world champions from Qatar 2022 and current Copa América back-to-back winners were also mentioned in recent comments by Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL, who directly blamed the Royal Spanish Football Federation for the cancellation of the international match between Argentina (South American champions) and Spain (European champions). Domínguez stated: “Do you know who the two-time champion is? We are the Finalissima two-time champions, they didn’t show up,” referring to the absence of the Spanish side.
The Albiceleste will face Mauritania and Zambia to say goodbye to their fans before heading out in search of a fourth star and back-to-back World Cup titles—an achievement only accomplished by Brazil and Italy. The last time Argentina entered a World Cup as defending champion was in Italy 1990, where they reached the final but lost to West Germany.
