Robert Lewandowski Ready to Return With Barcelona as the Masked Goalscorer Against Athletic Bilbao in la Liga
The Polish forward appeared in Barcelona's training session as a masked goal-scorer due to his nasal fracture
The masked striker
Robert Lewandoski wants to return to the pitch with Barcelona and a mask on his face. The Polish striker, who is about to face one of the most important decisions of his career about his stay in Barcelona or the possible departure to other leagues, such as Major League Soccer, showed up for training today with a black mask covering his face.
The nasal fracture
The Polish striker trained with a protective mask and it seems he could be in Hansi Flick's team against Athletic Bilbao as a visitor at San Mamés, if the German decides to call him up and put him in the squad. The reason he wore the mask on his face today is that the day before, the player suffered an injury in the match against Villareal, and subsequent analysis revealed that the striker had suffered a fracture to the inside of his left eye socket. Lewandoski has scored 18 goals in the Spanish League this season with Barcelona in just 21 games played in the league.
It's already happened before
He is not the first Barcelona player this year to play with a protective mask, as Eric García also had to use one after suffering a nasal fracture in November, which took him a few months to fully recover and stop using this additional protection.
