Dani Olmo Reveals Where He Wants to Retire — and It’s Not Barcelona

  • The Spain international’s agent revealed where he wants to hang up his boots and what he hopes to do after his playing career comes to an end.

Dani Olmo Already Knows Where He Wants to Finish His Career

Dani Olmo’s immediate future remains tied to FC Barcelona, but the Spain international already appears to have a clear idea of where he wants to end his career when the time comes to step away from the highest level.

His agent, Andy Bara, revealed on the Inkubator podcast that Olmo’s dream is to return one day to Dinamo Zagreb, the club where he made his breakthrough in professional football after leaving La Masia as a teenager.

And the plan goes beyond one final spell as a player. “He wants to finish his career at Dinamo and hopes that will be the case. Even as a manager, he’d like to start his coaching career at Dinamo,” Bara said.

A Bond With Zagreb That Never Faded

Olmo spent six seasons in Croatia before joining RB Leipzig in 2020, but his relationship with Dinamo never disappeared.

According to his agent, the midfielder still keeps the club close in his everyday life in Barcelona. “Dani still walks around the house wearing a Dinamo shirt with the number 7 and his name on it, even now in Barcelona,” he explained.

Bara believes that connection remains so strong that, despite the years since his departure, Olmo’s name is still closely associated with Dinamo Zagreb.

A Relationship That Goes Far Beyond Football

The Spain international’s representative also revealed a gesture Olmo had kept away from the spotlight for years.

According to Bara, since leaving Dinamo, Olmo has donated 2% of his gross annual salary to Vukovar, a Croatian city deeply affected by the country’s war of independence.

“He has been doing it since he was at Leipzig and now at Barcelona too. He doesn’t talk about it publicly, but I wanted to say it because he deserves it,” his agent said, describing Olmo’s connection with Croatia as something far deeper than just another chapter in his career.

His Focus Remains on Barcelona

All of that remains a long-term plan. For now, Olmo is focused on becoming an indispensable part of Barcelona despite the transfer speculation that has periodically linked him with other major European clubs.

Bayern Munich have been among the teams connected with the Spain international, although his representative maintains that Olmo remains focused on his time in Catalonia and that there is no deal currently in motion.

The future may eventually take him back to Zagreb, but there is still a long way to go before retirement becomes a real consideration. For now, Olmo wants to establish himself at Barcelona; one day, if everything goes according to plan, his career could come full circle where his professional journey began.
