Why Hansi Flick Demands Dental Exams for Barcelona Players
The German coach keeps showing his commitment to his players' physical health so they can perform their best on the field.
Hansi Flick came to Barcelona to shake things up, and so far, he hasn't disappointed. Even the team's medical exams have changed. Previously, the club only required basic medical tests like anthropometric measurements (height, weight, body fat percentage, etc.), blood and urine analysis, cardiological exams, and podiatric exams. Now, the German coach has made dental exams mandatory for players, insisting that they are very important.
This isn't a joke either, as the "British Journal of Sports Medicine" reported a few years ago that 77% of British players examined had gingivitis and 80% had periodontal disease. These conditions can be problematic, affecting overall health since improper chewing can impact the digestive system and deprive muscles of nutrients.
Because of this, Hansi Flick has asked the club to add a comprehensive dental exam for the players for the first time, to have better control and understanding of their health. The German coach is once again showing his commitment to the health and physical performance of his players.
