Want a Piece of The Bernabéu? Real Madrid Auctions off Legends' Lockers and More
Real Madrid, in collaboration with the British auction house Sotheby’s, is offering fans the chance to own historic items from the iconic Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Among the standout pieces are lockers used by legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, and David Beckham, as well as other emblematic stadium elements.
The lockers, which were in use during the 2022 season, will be auctioned with a certificate of authenticity and a detailed list of the players who used them in the past. These relics represent a golden era for the club, during which 544 matches were played at the Santiago Bernabéu, and 20 titles were won, including six Champions League trophies and six LaLiga titles.
Other highly sought-after items include individual lockers of Zidane, Sergio Ramos, and Luis Figo, as well as an impressive three-meter-wide mosaic featuring Real Madrid’s crest and the stadium’s iconic metal gates. The initial estimated prices for the mosaic and gates are £12,000 and £8,000, respectively.
Part of the proceeds from this auction will go to the Real Madrid Foundation, which focuses on education and social inclusion projects for vulnerable children. Brendan Hawkes, a sports memorabilia specialist at Sotheby’s, highlighted the importance of the auction: “These historic relics give fans a unique glimpse into the behind-the-scenes life of the Santiago Bernabéu.”
The auction will kick off on November 12 and run for two weeks. Additionally, an exhibition of the pieces will take place at Sotheby’s gallery in central London from November 20 to 26, allowing football fans to admire these history-filled items up close.
