Real Madrid Nail a Win Against Mallorca and is Already Eyeing up the Champions League
Real Madrid stays strong as they gear up for their Champions League showdown with Manchester City. They just scraped by on Saturday at Son Moix (0-1) against Copa del Rey runners-up Mallorca, managed by Javier Aguirre.
They took down Mallorca with a shot from Aurélien Tchiuaméni that ricocheted off Manu Morlanes and found the back of the net. In a game dominated by the Whites, with nine shots on target and 56% possession, they secured the win.
The solid LaLiga leaders took another step towards the title, improving their game in the second half of the season. They remain unbeaten away from home in LaLiga, with 12 games without a loss, keeping them at the top with 75 points, eight ahead of their closest rival.
Now, Madrid is aiming for their trip to Manchester, where they'll face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals second leg. After a 3-3 draw in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, they're gunning for a spot in the Semifinals and their first-ever victory at the Etihad Stadium.
