Bad News for Barcelona with Vitor Roque!
The blaugrana club was awaiting the Appeals Committee's decision regarding the second yellow card received in the last matchday, and there is now a verdict. Here we tell you about it.
The Appeals Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) dismissed on Friday the appeal filed by FC Barcelona and upheld the one-game suspension for Brazilian player Vitor Roque due to the second yellow card he received in the last matchday, meaning he will miss the upcoming match against Granada.
Roque was booked in the league match against Alavés for the second time in the 72nd minute, just three minutes after receiving the first yellow card, in an incident with Rafa Marín that referee Martínez Munuera deemed reckless, resulting in his expulsion.
Barcelona initially appealed to the Competition Committee, which on Wednesday upheld the double yellow card for the Barcelona forward.
The Catalan club then appealed the decision to the Appeals Committee, which argued in its statement that "the images are consistent with what is reflected in the referee's report, and in the absence of evidence to the contrary, a manifest material error cannot be discerned" in the referee's decision "regardless of whether those images are also compatible with other potential versions of events, including the one put forward by the appealing Club."
