"Was My Only Choice," Vítor Roque on Joining FC Barcelona
The Brazilian Vitor Roque, Barcelona's new forward, stated he's "really looking forward" to playing alongside Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, the main '9' in Xavi Hernandez's team.
"They're all great, but I'm really excited to play with Lewandowski. And of course, with Raphinha too. It's fulfilling a dream," said the 18-year-old Roque in an interview released by the Catalan club this Friday.
The former Athletico Paranaense attacker, who has signed an eight-season contract with Barça and has a release clause of 500 million euros, revealed that his compatriot Raphinha had spoken "wonders" about his new team: "He told me it's a fantastic, perfect club, with all the facilities to learn and work."
Roque aims to win the Champions League with the Blaugrana. "Winning the Champions would be my ultimate dream," mentioned Vitor Roque, who also expressed his eagerness "to do things right and win as much as possible with Barça."
The Brazilian forward, who will have his first training session with his new teammates this afternoon, stated he has "always been a Barcelona fan" and feels happy to have fulfilled his childhood dream. "It was my only option.
It's the best club in the world, and it was always my dream to play here. Great idols like Romario or Neymar have also been part of this team, leaving their mark on history. It will be a pleasure to defend this jersey," assured Roque, who despite his youth, doesn't dwell on the pressure of wearing the Blaugrana colors.
"I'm relaxed. I try not to overthink it, not to go beyond. I just want to help the club as much as I can to win all possible titles," concluded Barcelona's new signing, expressing his eagerness to learn and wanting "to enjoy playing with the best in the world.
